Copenhagen Photo Festival
Copenhagen Photo Festival is an annual, eleven-day event composed of exhibitions, workshops, seminars, photo tours, portfolio reviews, and more. The festival co-operates with galleries, museums, and cultural institutions around Copenhagen and southern Sweden, and has exhibitions in public spaces, including all metro trains and City Fence. The festival center, Photo City, is an old, beautiful transformer station in Østerbro. In 2017, Copenhagen Photo Festival had 49.320 visitors and 58 exhibitions in collaboration with 55 different exhibition sites, including Photographic Centre and The National Museum of Photography. Every year, 250 Danish and foreign photographers contribute to the festival program.
The Censored Exhibition
The Censored Exhibition presents a selection of 50 works by international photographers – selected by an international jury through an open call. The exhibition takes place during the Copenhagen Photo Festival in Photo City, the heart of the festival, which sets the framework for ten international solo and group exhibitions in a unique former industrial area. Many of the previously selected photographers are now recognized internationally and the exhibition itself offers exposure to a wide, dedicated audience of collectors, critics, and curators at Scandinavia's largest photo festival. The selected photographers also have the opportunity to sell their works at a special auction, open online at bruun-rasmussen.dk throughout the festival and then transferred to a live auction at the exhibition. The idea behind the auction is to focus on the many qualities of photo art and highlight emerging photographers.
