Consortium Overview
In 1998, the SACI Consortium was created based on growing relationships between SACI in Florence, Italy, and a number of art schools at universities, art colleges, and art departments in the United States and elsewhere. To define and enlarge these existing connections, SACI set out to involve the support of art educators and students within this network.
The SACI Consortium is now an association of 50 member institutions with periodic meetings in Florence, dedicated to the exchange of ideas and concerns related to art education and foreign study. Administrators from the institutions review the challenges of international education and develop practical solutions, paying particular attention to how students best fit for study abroad at SACI can learn of the breadth of opportunities offered in Florence and be encouraged to pursue these possibilities.
Each Fall and Spring Term, SACI makes available a Full-Tuition Consortium Scholarship [1], which provides an especially promising undergraduate from a SACI Consortium school with the opportunity to study tuition-free at SACI. Numerous other SACI Consortium scholarships are awarded to undergraduates from SACI Consortium schools. Many visiting faculty grants are also available for faculty members of these institutions.
