Where Can I Find the SACI Application?

Simply click on the red “APPLY” button on this website or visit MySACI. Create a SACI Online Application Account and begin filling out your application. (Before applying, undergraduate students are encouraged to check with the Study Abroad offices at their home schools for information regarding possible special application procedures for study at SACI.)

Is There an Application Fee?

Yes, there is a $70 non-refundable application processing fee. 

What Credit Cards Are Accepted for Payment of the Application Fee?

Visa, Mastercard, and Discover credit cards are accepted for online payments on our secure server. Debit cards are not accepted. (If you prefer to pay by check or money order, please contact the SACI NY Admissions Office before submitting your application.)

Can I Edit My Application Once It Is Submitted?

You can edit your application up until the moment it is submitted. Once it has been submitted by paying the $70 application fee, corrections and changes can be made by sending an email to the SACI NY Admissions Office.

Can I Track the Status of My Application?

Use your online application account to see whether your application is in progress or complete, if supporting documents (such as, transcripts) are still missing, and whether or not an admissions decision has been made. You will be notified by email if you have been admitted for study at SACI. 

How Do I Secure a Space in My Desired Term?

SACI accepts applications on a rolling basis. As soon as we receive all your application materials, we can process your application for acceptance as long as space is available. Once you have been accepted, you will receive an email and a Confirmation of Enrollment document to be returned with your General Program Deposit, which will secure your place in the program indicated on your application. 

Can I Make Tuition Payments and Track Payment History through My SACI Online Application Account?

Yes, log into your SACI Online Application Account to make payments and track which payments have already been received the SACI NY Admissions Office.

When I Apply, Do I Need To Submit All Materials at One Time?

Because students must apply online, it is not necessary to submit all pieces of your application at the same time. You must submit your required documents (official transcripts, advisor forms, essays, etc.) through your MySACI account and follow the directions provided in order for your application to be complete. For each type of supporting document, you must upload multiple documents at one time, so please gather your documents first, and upload simultaneously. (Ex: if you have multiple transcripts, please wait to upload them until you have all transcripts and then go to MySACI and upload them together at one time under the transcript category). For those required documents that need to be mailed, you may send them to the New York Admissions Office (SACI, 454 W 19th St, New York, NY, 10011). Please be aware that we do not process incomplete applications. Once your application is complete, it generally takes 2-3 weeks for you to receive a notification.

Where Do I Send Required Documents?

The application must be filled out online and all supporting documents should be uploaded directly to the applicant’s MySACI account.

Do I Need To Submit a Portfolio?

Post-Baccalaureate applicants must submit 15 images and/or 2 original papers for Art Conservation. MFA in Studio Art program applicants are required to submit 15-20 images of their artwork. Scholarship applicants must submit 15-20 images of their artwork or 5 minutes of time-based work or 2 writing samples. The New York Admissions Office will provide instructions on how to submit these online.

Do My Recommendation Letters Have To Be from Instructors?

If you are required to have one or more recommendation letters, academic references are preferred. Recommendations from personal friends or relatives will not be accepted.

If I Graduated from My University More Than Three Years Ago, Do I Have To Submit My Transcripts?

Yes. All applicants (including those interested in the Summer programs) must submit official transcripts. If you have been out of school for more than three years, you must also submit a resume or CV.

Can I Transfer My Undergraduate Credits To SACI and Receive a BA?

No. SACI is not an undergraduate degree-granting institution and cannot accept transfer credits for any reason.

Can I Transfer Credits Earned Elsewhere to SACI's Post-Baccalaureate Certificate Program?

SACI does not accept credits earned at other institutions toward fulfillment of requirements for earning SACI's Post-Baccalaureate certificate.

As an Undergraduate Student, Would I Be Required To Enroll in Specific Courses at SACI?

That would depend upon the requirements of your home school. SACI’s only restriction is that students are not allowed students to enroll in five studio courses, but you should check with your home school advisor to learn whether you are required to take specific courses while at SACI.

How Do I Apply for a Scholarship?

Many partial scholarships are available for undergraduate and graduate study at SACI. Applicants to all SACI programs that are for credit may apply for SACI scholarships. Students interested in applying for a SACI scholarship MUST check the appropriate box on the SACI online application form and complete all application requirements by the scholarship deadline. I Am from a Country Outside the United States. Are There Specific Requirements I Must Meet?

Since 1975, SACI has welcomed students from over 70 countries worldwide. Whatever your geographic region may be, we would be delighted to receive your application, and consider ourselves honored by your interest in SACI. Applicants from outside the United States will need to provide specific information and documents (including evidence of their proficiency with the English language), that you may find listed in our Non-US Students section.

Are International Students Eligible for Scholarships?

Yes! All applicants may apply for scholarships which are awarded based on a combination of merit and demonstrated financial need. For a complete list of requirements and scholarships offered visit Scholarships & Financial Aid.

I Was Admitted to SACI. Can I Defer My Admission to Another Term?

Yes. If you wish to defer, please email the SACI NY Admissions Office and state your name, the term you were admitted into and the term you wish to attend. You will be responsible for contacting SACI at least one month prior to the term you wish to attend in order to confirm your intent to enroll.

When Will I Be Notified about Registering for Classes? When Does Registration Begin?

Once you are admitted to SACI, you are given access to the Admitted Students section of our online system (MySACI), which contains the information you need about registering for classes.

Do I Need a VISA To Study in Italy at SACI and When Should I Apply for It?

SACI students attending a program for an Academic Semester or longer are required by Italian law to obtain a Student Visa. U.S. citizens attending a SACI Summer program do not need a visa; students of other nationalities should check with their nearest Italian Consulate to inquire if they need a visa for our Summer programs.
