Our November 2017 edition of Open Studios was a huge success! In a night of conversation and exploration focusing on art, art history, and the creative process, the public had the opportunity to hear from our students, view their work, and discover the inspiring studio spaces in the SACI Jules Maidoff Palazzo of the Visual Arts.
Participants included students in the MFA in Studio Art, MFA in Photography, MFA in Communication Design, MA in Art History, and Post-Bac in Studio Art programs at SACI. Some students created their own pamphlets and zines to distribute during the evening, while others played videos, welcomed visitors into in-progress installations, or made artwork live as the crowd looked on. With art around every corner, there was so much to see it was hard to keep up; the spaces were buzzing with excitement.
At the beginning of the night, we also heard from SACI President Steven Brittan and the directors of the graduate programs, as well as rapid-fire introductions by our MFA and Post-Bac students. Our MA in Art History students gave us a look into their thesis research, explaining the extensive work they will complete during the intensive 1-year MA program.
