ARTS(F)400 Fresco Painting3
Term: Fall, Spring, Summer I, Summer II
Prerequisites: None
The Fresco Painting course takes students on a journey through the history of mural painting techniques. Students learn how these techniques evolved over time—focusing in the end on pre- and post-Renaissance frescoes. Through theory and practice, students learn how to prepare the plaster, apply it to the wall, paint the fresco, and remove and transport it.
This class, which includes trips to Renaissance and modern frescoes in Florence, is of great value not only to studio art majors, but also to art history majors and persons interested in conservation.
(See syllabus below. An updated syllabus will be posted at the beginning of each term.)
