ART605 MFA Graduate Seminar in Communication Design: Studio Co-Requisite I, Cecilia Marzocchi, Fall 2019 | SACI College of Art & Design Florence

ART605 MFA Graduate Seminar in Communication Design: Studio Co-Requisite I, Cecilia Marzocchi, Fall 2019

We approach graphic design fundamentals through different topics: from basic design elements described by Ellen Lupton, to Munari’s method: textures, shapes, structure, module and motion. The increasing level of complexity of the exercises aims to lead to a professional preparation.

We learn by doing the LRU [Legibility / Readability / Usability] method faced in parallel during the Academic Seminar.

Objectives

By the end of the semester, students should have developed a creative–rational approach in relation to visual communication. A method which enables one to solve problems and answer questions: from the easiest to the most complicated, from fictitious to factual.

Software

Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop

Peronal Visual Diary

MFA students are requested to feed a daily–based personal visual diary to weekly discuss and analyze together.
