Learn More about the SACI Experience
Founded by artist Jules Maidoff in 1975, SACI is the oldest and most prestigious American art school in Florence. Our main facilities are two beautiful historic palazzi in the heart of Florence, which include studio spaces, classrooms, gallery and exhibition space, media facilities, photography labs, and more. We are accredited by the National Association of Schools of Art and Design, and incorporated as a not-for-profit U.S. institution. Learn more about SACI.
SACI offers a wide range of graduate and undergraduate programs in traditional and contemporary studio arts, design, conservation, art history, and Italian language and culture, led by deeply committed faculty who are both dedicated mentors and active professionals in the art world. Travel and experiential learning are also strongly integrated into our programs, enabling students to gain maximum exposure to Italian art and culture. Explore academic programs at SACI.
In addition to acquiring direct experience through field trips and course work, our students put their artistry in action through activities that aid the community, such as restoration of important historical spaces, teaching art to children, decoration of local hospital wards, and more. To provide students with the skills to thrive in their academic and professional lives, SACI has created many exciting Interdisciplinary Collaborations, which connect students with some of Italy’s most renowned museums through client-based projects. Propelling an already life-changing opportunity to new heights, these initiatives breaking down boundaries between art, design, fashion, anthropology, science, and history to develop independent and innovative artists with an unmatched knowledge and awareness of contemporary and historical culture in a rapidly changing world. Scholarships and Aid
SACI is committed to making study abroad an achievable goal for every student. Financial aid received from a U.S. college or university can often be transferred to cover fees for study at SACI. Students who are accepted into SACI and are receiving financial aid from their home school must have their home school financial aid office complete a SACI Promissory Note. We also offer generous scholarship awards each term. Learn more about scholarships and aid at SACI.
