SACI Conservation students and Dr. Roberta Lapucci restore paintings from Elba

Il Terreno - Elba

The urgent restoration of paintings from St. James Church, located on Elba Island, within the Fortified complex of Spanish origin of Porto Azzurro, currently part of a prison, has just been taken on by SACI conservation students and their instructor, Dr. Roberta Lapucci. The first 4 (out of 11) paintings have already been delivered to the SACI conservation labs. They are being restored at SACI during the Fall and Spring 2015-2016 by the Post-Baccalaureate students in Conservation. The paintings will be returned to the church before end of July 2016. The collaboration with SACI is being directed by the Superintendance for Fine Arts and Landscapes for the Provinces of Pisa and Livorno, Dr. Andrea Muzzi and Dr. Amedeo Mercurio.
