SACI Conservation students to restore 16th-Century tabernacle

Corriere Fiorentino

February 4, 2014: In an article by Claudio Bozza of the Corriere Fiorentino (p. 6), SACI is mentioned for a project SACI Conservation students will begin working on in Fall 2014. The tabernacle painting is normally located on Via dei Corsi (see pictures in the newspaper article), on the side of the church of San Gaetano (near Via Tornabuoni), but has been removed for restoration. The painting, from the second half of the 16th Century, is by Giovan Battista Naldini (Florence 1535-1591), oil on wood, nearly 2x1 meters, and represents a Crucifixion with Saint Francis and Saint Benedict. The restoration should be completed by July 2015.
