Early Renaissance Field Trip to Ravenna

Sunday, January 8, 7:00 am Early Renaissance Field Trip to Ravenna.  Required for All Students in Early Renaissance Art History and Open to All Other Students: Meet Dr. Helen Watterson outside the front door at SACI’s Palazzo dei Cartelloni at 7:00 am. 

This day trip to Ravenna focuses on Early Christian and Byzantine art. Visits to San Vitale, Mausoleum of Galla Placidia, Mausoleum of Theodoric, Sant'Apollinare Nuovo, Sant'Apollinare in Classe, Arian and Orthodox Baptisteries, and Archbishop's Museum with famous ivory throne of Bishop Maximien. This field trip provides an important background to the periods covered in this course.
